CFC100 Monios announces NCAA commitment

There aren’t many CFC100s left hanging around from the Class of 2019, but Maine snuck their way into the picture once again on NCAA Signing Day to claim CFC100 Michael Monios out of Choate Rosemary Hall (CT).

The 5’10” receiver prospect originally played in Montreal, but moved down to Connecticut where he was able to find a home at Choate Rosemary Hall, who’re one of the top rated preps schools on the East Coast. They finished last season with a perfect 10-0 record, and Monios played a huge role with eight catches for 169 yards and two touchdowns in the three games tracked by MaxPreps. He’s a pure burner on the field with playmaking ability for days, which led to competing offers from Florida Atlantic and Long Island, but the maple leaf gang at Maine were able to claim another prospect for the future.

The Black Bears are already home to CFC100s Deshawn Stevens, Liam Dobson, Shaquille St-Lot, Katley Joseph and Justin Sambu. If that’s not enough Canadian content, they’ve also signed fellow CFC100 receiver Clark Barnes out of CFC10 Clarkson Football North, which will bring their total up to seven next season. The gameplan is apparently working after Maine finished last season ranked fourth in the National Rankings with a 10-4 record, and an appearance in the FCS Playoff Semifinals.

Monios says their recent success on the field was a huge factor in his final decision,

“I chose the Black Bears because of the system and offence they run would allow me to succeed at the highest level. Their coaching staff is amazing and really made me feel at home. ”

His friendship with St-Lot played a role as well,

“Having a friend of mine like Shaq St-Lot there helped a lot also, and just overall feel for the place allowed for me to make the decision easier. Being the fourth ranked FCS program also helps.”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
