CFC100 leaving province, joins Manitoba

Manitoba adds out-of-province commit to their 2018 class.

CFC100 Billy Matwichyna, a receiver from South Delta High School, currently calls Tsawwassen, BC, home, but soon that title will belong to Winnipeg, Manitoba, after signing with the University of Manitoba Bisons.

“I chose the UofM because I felt at home when I went on my visit and I felt like I just belonged there. They have amazing facilities and awesome coaches and players,” Matwichyna said. “I love the staff. In my opinion, they have the best staff in the nation. They treat you equally and motivate you to get better. They are the type of coaches that I would love to play for.”

In his career, the 6’2, 185lbs athlete has had a run of success. He spent nine years playing community football and six playing flag football. Two of those years were spent on an all-star team. In high school, he spent three years with the South Delta Sun Devils (BCSSFA).

He is a three-time provincial champion with the South Delta Rams in 2013, 2014 and 2015. He also won back-to-back national flag championships in 2016 and 2017. Those same years, he was an AAA conference all-star and an AAA provincial all-star in 2016. He is interested in environmental sciences and geology.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
