CFC100 Dylan Whetter announces NCAA commit

Did you think we were done sending Canadian talent down south? Well think again, because CFC100 Dylan Whetter announced he’ll be suiting up at Mississippi Valley State for the next four years.Ā There were plenty of schools interested north of the border as well, including Guelph who sent him an offer at the end of December, but the Delta Devils won out as the only NCAA offer on the big board.

They first offered the 6’6″ monster last July, and were able to form a strong connection from day one in Mississippi,

“What impressed me on my visit at MVSU was the coaches and player welcomed me and made me feel like I was already part of their team/family.Ā They are rebuilding their team and I am very excited to be part of that.”

It’s been a long journey for Whetter, who began his career playing for the Brantford Bisons, then he made a pit stop with the Guelph Jr. Gryphons before ultimately landing at Football North. He says playing NCAA football wasn’t even on his radar before entering high school, but after experiencing the rigors of a full American schedule, all of a sudden a DI opportunity didn’t seem so far away,

“It’s been a very busy, but exciting journey. Becoming part of the Football North family started the journey and helped make my dreams reality.” He explains.

“Four years ago I would have never have imagined playing football for a NCAA D1 college … I look forward to the next four years as a Delta Devil.”

Mississippi Valley State are members of the FCS Southwestern Athletic Conference, and are looking to rebuild after a 1-10 finish in 2018. This is their second signing in as many years after CFC60Ā Daethan Nadeau joined the program last season. Whetter joins CFC100 teammates Liam Dick, Clark Barnes and Kail Dava, who’ve all found new homes across the NCAA landscape next season.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
