#CFC10 Non-public school RANKINGS (9): Football North tests 2-time defending Ohio state champs

Football North takes 2-time defending champs to the brink

Upstart program Football North had their best showing of the year, battling the La Salle Lancers, 2-time defending Ohio state champions in a closely contested and spirited contest.  After a quick three and out and big punt return the Lancers struck first with a rushing touchdown early in the first quarter.  Football North countered immediately with a well orchestrated drive by Wildcat QB and starting FS #CFC100 Khalil Wilson, who scored on a 45 yard touchdown run.  The game was a back and forth battle that saw both teams make great plays on both offense and defense.  The Lancers were frustrated that they were in a game they thought their starters would be removed after the first quarter.  The half time score was 21-13, the second first half Football North touchdown coming from a Clarke McCallum to Quincey Belanger hook up deep in the back of the end zone.  The second half started promising for Football North as McCallum hooked up with receiver Nick Mardner for a touchdown to even the game, however a holding penalty negated the long pass.  The Lancers added ten more points in the second half and the game ended with Football North on the Lancers ten yard line, poised to score.  The defense again played well however giving up the big play still plagues them.  Harjas Bal, playing both corner and safety had his best game, picking off 2 Lasalle passes.  Football North travels to Maryland this weekend to take on Silver Oak Academy.

Canada Prep Raiders travelled to Aurora Ohio to play the 7-1 Aurora Greenman.  After going down 7-0 the Raiders Brandon Brown scored on a 9 yard run, making the score 7-6 after the missed convert.  The Greenman answered with two more touchdowns and a safety prior to the half to make the score 22-6.  After a scoreless third quarter, the Greenman went up 29-6 however Raider running back #CFCOPC JP Cimikanda scored on a 33 yard run to tighten the score to 29-13.  The Greenman finished the scoring on a 5-yard run to make the final 36-13.  The Raiders travel to Stubenville to take on the Big Red, Tiger Cat Zach Collaros’ alma mater.

Royal Imperial Knights struggled again, this time in front of hundreds in Virginia Beach against the Bishop Sullivan Crusaders, going down 37-0 at half and finishing the game 44-6 with the Knights scoring in the last minute of the game. CLICK FOR game hi-lights

Traditional Toronto power the Kerry Blues had a dominant win over the struggling Trinity College Bears who are having one of their least successful seasons in quite some time. Hopefully they will get it figured out for next week as it is the last game in the regular season. The Blues will face St. Andrew’s College who are 5-2 for the season so far while the Bears go up against UCC who are 5-1.
