#CFC10 CEGEP (coll. div. 1) preview: [3]: Will #CFC100 Vanier LB and teammates be able to stop the Phénix?

Two great matchups this week; Le Notre-Dame at Champlain and the Phénix at Vanier! Will Notre-Dame and the Phénix remain undefeated? Look for #CFC100 QB Morand to have another outburst of passing yards and the Faucons will rise to the occasion and win their first game of the 2016 season!

Cégep Limoilou Titans (1-2) vs Cégep Lévis-Lauzon Faucons (0-3)

The Faucons are overdue and they have an opportunity to win their first game this weekend with the prowess of RB Samuel Cameron. Their ground game has been productive, but the defence might be the question mark for this match-up. The Faucons had a hard time stopping Notre-Dame-de-Foy’s running attack last week and the Titans RB, Philippe Genest, dominated against Vieux-Montréal with 218 yards and a touchdown. These two teams look alike and will make this a contest of who can stop the run and both will end the day with a 1-3 record.

Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy (3-0) vs Champlain-Lennoxville Cougars (2-1)

Coming off an emotional loss against Vanier at home, the Cougars should be worked-up for this game. They had not loss since 2014 and mistakes on special teams affected the end result of last week’s rivalry game against the Cheetahs. The Cougars have all the tools needed to fix the situation on special teams and defence. But, on offence, the young QB Guillaume Renaud-Dumoulin will be challenged and will need to step-up to help his team find their winning edge. The Notre-Dame ground attack cumulated 285 yards with Guillaume Vermette carrying the rock 16 times for 141 in last week’s close victory against the Faucons and shouldn’t be a factor, considering the Cougars defence was able to keep the Vanier RB’s to a minimum of 104 yards on the ground. The aerial combination of QB David Pelletier and receiver Vincent Forbes-Mombleau has been terrorizing secondaries and may take advantage of the weak link in the Champlain defence. The difference makers might be the kickers in this tight confrontation and the odds go to Notre-Dame with the recent performances of their kicker David Côté.

Collège André-Grasset Phénix (3-0) vs Vanier College Cheetahs (2-1)

Finally, André-Grasset will have some competition and will have to play with a little bit of pressure. The Vanier defence could be the difference maker with the spectacular #CFC100 LB Kean Harelimana and #CFC100 DB Tyris Lebeau on the prowl for collisions. The confident Cheetahs will be able to contain the Phénix offence for a while, but the Vanier offence will struggle against the relentless Phénix defence led by #CFC100 DE Philippe Lemieux-Cardinal who is sharing the number 1 position in total sacks with teammate Yacine Audette and they will help their team keep their undefeated season alive.

Cégep Garneau Élans (1-2) vs Collège Montmorency Nomades (0-3)

The struggling Nomades are hosting a ticked-off Garneau team that was humiliated last week by the new kids on the block Géants. The Élans’ defence took a slap in the face in their loss against Saint-Jean and will want to redeem themselves. The Garneau offence has been productive since the beginning of the season and the Nomades won’t be able to stop either the run or the pass. A lot of points will be scored and Montmorency will remain winless.

Cégep Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Géants (2-1) vs Cégep Vieux-Montréal Spartiates (1-2)

Vieux-Montréal is not going to enjoy the Géants air attack with #CFC100 QB Dimitri Morand in charge. Morand is leading the division in QB ratings with 1191 yards passing in 115 attempts, completing 77 passes and 10 of them for touchdowns. Meanwhile, the Spartiates offence is struggling at that position and is having difficulties gaining first downs, keeping the defence on the field. The Géants will dominate and improve their record to 3-1 with this win.
