CFC national playoff countdowns & predictions (ONT – Halton): “Both teams are evenly matched and it should be a close one”

Today, CFC continues its exclusive coverage of “National Playoff Countdowns & Predictions”.  Some of these teams are currently ranked in the ‘CFC TOP 50’ high school poll this season.

In this next installment, Joe Moscato, Head Coach of Holy Trinity Titans gives his thoughts and outlook to the team’s Halton Tier 1 semifinal game against Assumption Crusaders on Friday.

HOLY TRINITY TITANS VERSUS ASSUMPTION CRUSADERS:

Back on Friday October 4th, the Holy Trinity Titans eked out a 23-17 victory over Assumption Crusaders in regular season play.

Once again, the two teams will play each other, this time with a berth in the Halton Tier 1 finals at stake.

The Titans are expecting the Crusaders to be ready for battle.

“Assumption is a well-coached tough football team,” assessed Titans Head Coach Joe Moscato.  “They have a very good defense that is fundamentally sound. “

“On offense, they have a very good offensive line and a talented running back.”

One thing the Titans need to on Friday is stop explosive running back Jordan Lyons.  Moreover, the Titans offense has to find cracks in the Crusaders defensive wall and bypass a talented secondary in order to put up points on the scoreboard.

“We need to contain Assumptions talented running back Jordan Lyons,” said Moscato.  “He is the best in the league in my opinion.”

“The strength of Assumptions defense is their front seven.  They are tough and play aggressive to the football.”

There are three key advantages the Titans will have going into the semifinal battle – a tough offensive line, a talented yet experienced pivot in Nathan Rourke and athleticism and speed in all their skilled positions.

“We are going to try to contain their running game and limit our mistakes,” added Moscato of what the Titans plan of attack will be against the Crusaders.  “We need our offensive and defensive line to play well if we are going to have a chance of winning this game.”

Ultimately, it is a toss-up as to which team will come out on top due to the parity amongst the two competing teams.

“I think that this game is going to be a tough game,” expressed Moscato.  “Both teams are evenly matched and it should be a close one.”
