CEGEP Week 8: CNDF remain first in Nord-Est, CFC TOP 100 players lead Cheetahs to victory

Notre Dame de Foy (CNDF) are still the kings of CEGEP Division 1’s Nord Est Division.

Karim Kartsonis scored two touchdowns and rushed for 136 yards on eight carries (average of 17 yards per carry) to lead CNDF to a 31-25 victory over Levis-Lauzon Faucons in Week 8 action this past weekend.

Louis Philippe St.Amant scored the team’s other major on an intercepted pass while Samuel Chenard was successful on three field goal attempts and three conversion attempts.

Moreover, Chenard had 25 completions in 45 attempts for 268 passing yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions for CNDF.

On defense, Jean-Philippe Hudon (five solo, five assisted) and St.Amant (six solo, three assisted) both registered 7.5 tackles.  Hudon and Cedric Vaillancourt caught interceptions in the game.  CFC TOP 100 Remy Deschamps and Thomas Huot each recorded a sack for CNDF.

As for the Faucons, Vincent  Breton-Robert scored a touchdown return on a kick-off return.  Additionally, Sebastien Serre (107 rushing years) and Felix Caron-Guillemette tallied majors.

Raphael Faucher led the Faucons defense with 8.5 tackles (seven solo, three assisted).  Maxime Dionne added eight tackles (six solo, four assisted).  Oliver Lavoie, Oliver Dionne and Dave Drouin all recorded sacks for the team.

With this victory, CDNF remain in sole possession of first place in the Nord Est Division with a 6-2 record.  The Faucons are in last place in the division with a 1-7 record.

VANIER CHEETAHS 36, MONTMORENCY NOMADES 15:

Three CFC TOP 100 standouts played a significant role on offense as Vanier Cheetahs defeated Montmorency Nomades 36-15.

Etienne Moisan had 80 receiving yards on five carries (average of 16 yards per catch) and scored a touchdown while Alexandre Savard had 38 receiving yards on three catches  (average of 12.7 yards per catch) and tallied a major in the victory.

Quarterback Hugo Richard had 17 completions in 24 attempts for 229 passing yards and two passing touchdowns.  Moreover, he rushed for 53 yards on nine catches and rushed into the end zone once.

Receiver Tyrane Miller also had a touchdown score for the Cheetahs, who are 6-2 on the season and could have a share of first place depending on the outcome of Vieux Montreal Spartiates game this week.

Lloyd Bureau led the Cheetahs defense with seven tackles (six solo, two assisted).  Francois Hamel caught an interception while Jeremy Jean and Philippe Carrier each recorded a sack.

David Blain racked up 107 receiving yards on 10 receptions (average of 10.7 yards per reception) and scored two touchdowns for the Nomades in a losing cause.  Quarterback Benoit Lacasse has 18 completions in 25 attempts for 175 passing yards and one passing touchdown.

As for the Nomades defense, Ricardo Lubin registered nine tackles (six solo, six assisted).

With the loss, the Nomades slide to 2-6 on the season.

CHAMPLAIN-LENNOXVILLE COUGARS 33, FX-GARNEAU ELANS 11:

Cedric Joseph scored two touchdowns as the Champlain-Lennoxville Cougars kept pace with Nord Est Division leaders CNDF.  The Cougars coasted by FX-Garneau Elans .

Joseph tallied one rushing and one receiving major in addition to 100 rushing yards on 11 carries and 43 receiving yards on four catches.

Marc-Antoine Pivin and Trevon Wilson-Millings also scored majors for the Cougars.  CFC Top 100 pivot Philippe Giguere had 18 completions in 31 attempts for 232 passing yards, three passing touchdowns and one interception in the win.

On defense, CFC TOP 100 Cedric Lussier-Roy registered nine tackles (five solo, eight assisted) while Landri Akeu-Atsa and Adam Auclair each caught interceptions in the game.  Additionally, CFC TOP 100 Jonathan Boissonneault-Glaou recorded a sack.

With this win, the Cougars are just two points shy of CNDF with a 5-3 record in the Nord Est Division.

Guillaume Dumas tallied the lone major for the Elans and had 17 completions in 35 attempts for 202 passing yards and threw an interception.  Vincent Houle, Marc-Antoine Laflamme and Loic Jager all registered five tackles apiece to lead the defense.  Moreover, Nicolas Viens caught an interception. Louis Philippe Simoneau was successful on a field goal attempt and added a PAT.

The Elans are now 4-4 as a result of the loss and sit in third place in the Nord-Est Division.
