CEGEP recruit “proud to be a Carabin” (VIDEO)

CEGEP defensive end joins RSEQ team’s 2016 class.

The first CIS team to reach out to Benedicte Cayo was successful in their recruitment attempts.

Recently, the 6’2, 235 pound defensive end committed to the Montreal Carabins.  Cayo will join the team for the 2016 RSEQ season.

“I appreciate the interest of all teams had shown towards me,” expressed Cayo of his commitment.  “I am proud of being part of this organization.”

“Montreal was the first team to show some interest and had made it really clear throughout my recruiting process that they truly wanted me in their program. They are a program that continues to excel and shall continue to do so.”

Based on the reputation of the Carabins that Cayo learned while talking to players, it tipped the scale in the RSEQ team’s favour.  Additionally, the strength of the coaching staff was another significant factor.

“I had some conversations with some of the players who I could relate to during my collegiate career and knew that their needs were similar to mine in a majority of aspects,” elaborated the defensive end.  “I’ve also been coached by Paul Eddy Saint-Vilien in the past and always had a great relationship within throughout my collegiate career.”

“I just felt like the University Of Montreal was the perfect fit for me. The whole coaching staff and of course Danny Maciocia is a group of individuals that I liked a lot throughout my recruiting process. They also allowed me to have the opportunity to have a great balance between the quality of academics and football, which was one of my biggest concerns. I am proud to be a Carabins!”
