CEGEP recruit hopes to contribute to Carabins winning tradition (VIDEO)

CEGEP slotback joins RSEQ team’s 2016 class.

Kevin Duprey wants to go to a perennial contender.

Consequently, the 5’8, 165 pound slotback from Gatineau, Quebec has committed to the Montreal Carabins.  Duprey will join the team for the 2016 RSEQ season.

“I am joining a great team that has proven that they can compete year in and year out,” commented Duprey of his commitment. “With a great coaching staff Montreal has a good chance at winning game in and game out.”

“For myself, I felt a part of the Carabins family the moment that I visited. Every coach from every position made me feel at home and built a relationship with me which was special. Also, there isn’t much more out there that I hate more than losing, so going to a contending program become quite important. They have great players at all positions and I look forward to joining these guys to do my best to help the team win in any way possible.”

Aside from the football program, the Quebec offensive standout was impressive by the strength of the academics program that he is set to study at the Montreal, Quebec campus.

“I will be studying in business, so obviously HEC is well known and provides me a chance to develop as a student and future worker while playing the game of football,” added Duprey.

Duprey who is an Ottawa, Ontario native, experienced a special moment this past season with CEGEP Division 2 team, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Geants.

“This past season was a special season winning my second straight Bol D’Or and being a captain this past season leading the guys to another championship win at home,” recalled the CEGEP slotback.

In 2015, Duprey ranked led all the league categories possible for receiving, which includes yards, catches and touchdowns.  His statistics for the season are as follows: 1158 yards on 73 catches, 20 touchdowns in nine games.

During his career with the Geants, the slotback amassed 2097 yards on 144 catches and 33 touchdowns.

In addition to playing slotback, Duprey played a prominent role on special teams as a punt/kick return specialist.

Beginning his gridiron career with the Gatineau Vikings, Duprey enjoyed success there as he helped the team win a provincial and two regional championships.
