CEGEP recruit hooked on Rouge et Or

Blainville linebacker recently commits to RSEQ team’s 2015 class.

Marc Antoine Varin found the perfect gridiron and academic fit.

Consequently, the 6’3, 235 pound linebacker from Blainville, Quebec has committed to the Laval Rouge et Or.  Varin will join the team for the 2015 RSEQ season.

Overall, the reasons were very simple as to why the Quebec defensive standout chose the Rouge et Or.

“I just fell in love with the place when I visited,” expressed Varin.  “I knew that was where I wanted to spend the next four to five years of my career.”

“The academic side was just a perfect fit as I’ll study in Intervention Sportive which is a program that no one offers but Laval.  I get the opportunity to compete and get playing time.  I love the way they do things, love their work ethic and I think it is the best fit for me as someone who works hard.  There’s also the fact that to me, Laval is still the best football program in Canada, even though they didn’t make it all the way this year.  I am proud to now be part of such an excellent program! I feel like I couldn’t have a better coaching staff than there!”

Recently, Varin completed a stint with CEGEP Division 1 team, Vanier Cheetahs. This past season, the linebacker registered 41 tackles, six tackles for a loss, a batted ball, caught an interception and a touchdown in eight games.

Previous to the Cheetahs, Varin has suited up for midget Laurentian Wildcats for two seasons.
