Brampton defensive back joins OUA team’s 2016 class

The Carleton Ravens have announced the addition of #CFC100 Ricardo Barrett to their football program.

Barrett, the 5’11, 170 pound defensive back from Brampton, Ontario will join the team for the 2016 OUA season.

β€œHaving Ricardo join the Ravens program is a big coo getting our first top 100 commit for the 2016 recruiting class,” commented Ravens Head Coach Steve Sumarah.Β  β€œHis ability to cover man to man will make him a huge asset for our program.”

β€œHaving the opportunity to work with Coach Sean Hall [Ravens Defensive Backs Coach] on Team Ontario a couple of years ago helped us secure him into our program.”

Earlier this month, Barrett helped CFC#11 St. Roch Ravens of the Region of Peel Secondary School Athletic Association (ROPSSAA) win their first ever OFSAA Bowl.Β  The Ravens defeated Adam Scott Lions 20-7 to win the OFSAA Central Bowl. The Ravens also won the ROPSSAA Championship this past fall.

Additionally, Barrett has suited up for the Brampton Bulldogs of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) and has represented his province as a member of Team Ontario.

In September, the defensive standout was included for the second consecutive time on the #CFC100 CLASS 2016 RANKINGS.Β  With Barrett’s commitment, this is the Ravens first #CFC100 for this year’s recruitment drive.

For his part, Barrett’s bond and chemistry with the coaching staff and the opportunity for a change in gridiron scenery were the ultimate reasons he opted for the Ravens.

β€œI committed to Carlton because I felt a strong connection to the coaches there,” elaborated Barrett.Β  β€œThe team is also new so I was interested in starting somewhere new.”

β€œI also feel that the coaches and players there will help guide in in the right path and make sure I stay on track.”
