Carleton gets another big recruit…immediately

Jeff Veinotte was a big recruit in the class of 2010.  He went on to the University of Buffalo that year and played in 2010 and 2011.  TSNs Duane Forde listed Jeff as the #1 prospect to watch for the 2014 CFL draft.  In the off season in early 2012 he decided to transfer back to Canada but medical issues delayed the CIS chapter in Jeff’s career.

“So after a couple of years of being out of commission from a supposed career ending sickness, I have officially returned to play Football at Carleton University. Just want to thank the staff at Carleton, my family, and friends for all the support to make this possible”, Jeff announced to all his facebook followers.

When CFC contacted Veinotte to find out when he would start playing we were surprised by the response.  “I’m not sure yet.  its either this weekend or next weekend will be my first game.”  If in fact it this weekends Panda game, it adds even more intrigue to the match up.

Jeff won a ‘National Capital Bowl’ playing high school with St. Peter’s high school in Orleans.  He was a member of Team Ontario East in 2008 and 2009, winning a gold medal and tournament all-star in 2009.  He went on to the NCAA at University of Buffalo and then looked to transfer back to the CIS and had committed to the Laval Rouge et or.  However, soon after he was diagnosed with a ‘heart condition’ that had doctors advise him to quit football.  With this turn Jeff enrolled at Carleton in his hometown of Ottawa and decided to help coaching with the Ravens in the inaugural season.
