Carabins complete coaching staff for 2018

Montreal, March 22, 2018 – Just weeks before its spring camp, the Montreal Carabins announce the addition of two new coaches in anticipation of the 2018 season. Olivier FrĆ©chette Lemire and Gladymir Charmant now brings to ten the number of former players of the Blues in the coaching staff of the training.

“We are very proud to add these two coaches who have been committed to our football program for many years and who are familiar with our environment and our culture,” said head coach Danny Maciocia, who will coordinate the defense next year. “They undoubtedly have a promising future ahead of them and will integrate quickly and easily into our internal workings. ”

Defensive half at UdeM from 2008 to 2012, FrƩchette-Lemire will lead the players in this position. For the past four seasons, he has coached the Montmorency College nomadic defensive backs, as well as coordinating their special teams from 2015 to 2017. He was the assistant defensive backs coach in 2013.

“I was taken by surprise when Danny contacted me,” said FrĆ©chette-Lemire. I thought my coaching career was over, so I could focus my energies on the one I was pursuing in industrial design. But this is a golden opportunity that I could not refuse. I am very excited and can not wait to start working with all these talented coaches and coach our players. ”

After working on the defensive line from 2005 to 2007, Charmant began his coaching career while contributing to the world of football in many ways at school, civil and college. He notably trained the Spartans’ defensive line at CĆ©gep du Vieux-MontrĆ©al (2008) and Montmorency College nomads (2012 and 2013). He has also acted as a scout for Quebec for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League in 2016 and 2017.

“I’m back home too,” said Charmant, who will be a defensive assistant coach. I become one of the few to have had the opportunity to play or work with all of the Carabins’ head coaches since their return in 2002 and this is something that is very close to my heart. What I have experienced here and my different implications of the last years in football will help our players to flourish. ”

The Carabins will be back on the field of CEPSUM from April 29 to May 5 with the holding of their spring camp. They will continue their physical preparation and begin the last part of the winter academic session.

“With this coaching staff, the return of several veterans and the good recruitment we have experienced, we will definitely be a competitive team next year,” concluded Maciocia. We can not wait to hold football practices and see the progress of our players. ”
