Canadian coaches help in France


International School of American Football
From July 3rd to July 8th 2010, the first leg of the ISAF/EIFA took place in Villepinte, France. The team hosting the event, the Diables Rouge of Villepinte and its president Franck Lacuisse, just accessed the national 3rd division.

There were players coming from many teams in and around Paris (Amiens, Fontenay-sous-Bois, La Queue en Brie, Villepinte, Paris, Elancourt, La Courneuve, Asnières, Reims, Freyming-Merlbach, Villeneuve d’Ascq) as well as shadow coaches from Fontenay-sous-Bois and Nancy.

The main objective of this clinic of American Football is one of improvement of individual
techniques for the players and improvement of teaching methods for French coaches.
Coaches present at the clinic came from Canadian Universities:

• Matt Connell, from McGill university, will be with the quarterbacks (QB)
• Xavier Gelinas-St-Ours also from University of Montreal, will coach the offensive
linemen (OL)
• David Marticorena from University of Montreal University, will be responsible for the
running backs (RB/FB/TB/TE)
• Chris Coulson, OC at Ottawa U, will coach the receivers (R)
• Hugo Girard, from McGill University, will work with the linebackers (LB)
• Clint Uttley, DC and Assistant Head Coach from McGill University, will be with the
defensive line (DL)
• Carl Loubert, formerly from Concordia University and now with Chicoutimi in the
CEGEP league, is with the defensive backs (DB)
Marc-Angelo Soumah, president of the French Federation of American Football, stopped by to
assess the camp and left with great comments about the professionalism of the coaches and the
quality of the organization and can’t wait for next year.
A second week took place in Aix-en-Provence, starting July 10th, with a new bunch of players
and shadow coaches from Grenoble, Toulouse, Marseille, Pau and Avignon.

“To the coaches, thank you very much. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. A can’t miss
event. I’ll be back next year”. Luc Hantson – Vikings de Villeneuve d’Ascq.
“I was impressed by the quality of the coaches present. Congratulations for this quality event.
Players should rush to register for next year’s stage”. Pascal Carrano – Vice-president Fontenaysous-
Bois’ Météores.
The organizers are Franck Chagnon, recruiting coordinator at McGill University and Cedric
Essermeant, president of the Grenoble Centaures (38).
