Cambridge recruit picks McMaster

Something McMaster Marauders Head Coach Stefan Ptaszek said to Devin Keeling resonated with him when it came to the recruitment process.

“Coach P always talks about finding a “gut feel place you can call home” for the next 4 years,” recalled Keeling. “With the way the campus is, the coaching staff and the team I felt like that it was an easy decision to make.”

The decision he made was recently committing to the Marauders.  The 6’0, 220 pound linebacker from Cambridge, Ontario will join the team for the 2015 OUA season.

Additionally, the reputation of the school and the football program were also main reasons on why he ultimately chose the Marauders in the end.

“I chose McMaster because I am interested in getting a degree in kinesiology and kinesiology is one of McMaster best programs,” explained Keeling.  “Also, McMaster is one of the Top 100 universities in the world which is important to me.”

“Secondly, I chose McMaster because of the football program which is one of the best in the CIS. The coaching staff was also a big part of my decision. They are a very experienced and friendly staff.”

The linebacker has played for the Jacob Hespeler Hawks of the Waterloo County Secondary School Athletic Association (WCSSAA) as well as the Cambridge Lions of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).  Keeling has racked up 50 solo tackles, 58 tackle assists and caught two interceptions.
