Calgary boy staying home, commits to Dinos

The Hardy Cup winners bring in another Browns player.

Christian Cardone, a halfback from St. Francis High School, will have a few familiar faces in the locker room when he joins the Calgary Dinos in 2017.

Cardone will be continuing his schooling in his hometown of Calgary, Alberta. The 5’11, 175lbs product of the St. Francis Browns (Alberta School Athletics Association) will be joining three of his Browns teammates who had already committed to the Dinos in October. But, teammates aren’t his only ties to the team.

“I chose Calgary because I know they have a very good program and I believe it will be a good fit for me. Also, I’m excited to play for the Dinos as my dad also played for them,” he said.

Cardone is looking forward to working with the Calgary coaches as well. “I believe the Dino’s coaching staff is made up of some very good coaches and they are committed to the team,” he said.

The future accounting student has played football for seven years. He has suited for the U16 edition of Team Alberta. In 2013, he was named as the best defensive back in the Calgary bantam football league. The following year, he was recognized as the junior Browns’ best defensive back and won the city championship with the team. In 2015 and 2016, as a member of the Calgary Cowboys (Calgary Area Midget Football Association), he was named to the CAMFA all-star team as a defensive back. He also won a midget city championship this year. In 2015 and 2016, he won a city and provincial championship with the Browns and was named as a 2016 Calgary senior high school football all-star.

Welcome to the Family, Christian Cardone! #wearealldinos #godinos #futuredinos
