Easier adjustment

Cairns

Calgary defensive back newest recruit to join AUS Champions’ 2014 class.

TJ Cairns will be moving in the coming months out East.

The 5’10, 170 pound safety/defensive back from Calgary, Alberta is the newest member of the Mount Allison Mounties.  Recently, Cairns committed to the team for the 2014 AUS season.

“I chose to commit to Mount Allison because of the high academic standard and history that they have had,” explained Cairns of his decision.  “After speaking with Coach Jeffery (Mounties Head Coach Kelly), I thought it would be a great fit to go out to New Brunswick because of my previous interests to go out there.”

“I feel the adjustment will be made easier because of the family atmosphere that the program creates. I feel very privileged to be able to play in a program that has been so successful.”

Cairns joins the Mounties after completing his high school career with Ernest Manning Griffins of Calgary High School Athletic Association (CHSAA). He was able to overcome adversity this past season as he dislocated his shoulder in the jamboree.  It forced him to miss three regular season games.

In addition to the Griffins, Cairns also suited up for the Calgary Wildcats of the Capital Area Minor Football Association (CAMFA).

As for the Mounties, the team is thrilled to welcome Cairns into the fold.

“TJ has very natural ball skills,” commented Mounties Head Coach Kelly Jeffrey.  “Being a former receiver and moving to defensive back he has great understanding of what the receiver is trying to accomplish with his stem and can anticipate breaks well and plays the ball extremely well.”

“He’ll fit in well with our team atmosphere as well.”
