The Golden Bears add two Alberta commits to their Class of 2017.

Hailing from Red Deer, Alberta, Reiss Flunder didnā€™t want to stray too far from home. He said he chose the University of Alberta because of its proximity. He added that, ā€œI saw a program on the rise at U of A.ā€

The 5ā€™11, 220lbs eight-year veteran was also impressed with the teamā€™s head coach, Christopher Morris. ā€œI like his coaching style and the emphasis on school,ā€ the future Kinesiology student said.

Flunder has suited up for the Notre Dame Cougars (Central Regional Central Alberta Schools Athletic Association), the Prairie Fire (Calgary Area Midget Football Association) and the U16 edition of Team Alberta. He is a 2016 Central Alberta champion and a three-time all-star.

The new season canā€™t come soon enough. ā€œIā€™m very excited to get started,ā€ Flunder said.

Matthew Del Degan
Matthew Del Degan is heading to Edmonton from his home in Calgary, Alberta. Standing at 6ā€™4, 170lbs, the free safety and cornerback has played for the Bishop Oā€™Byrne Bobcats (Calgary High School Athletic Association).

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
