British Columbia Football Conference announces “Players of Week” for Week 2

The Vancouver Island Raiders used a different weapon on Saturday to raise their record to 2-0. During week one, they used the aerial attack, but in week two it was all about the ground game.

The Raiders saw a huge game from the Offensive Player of the Week Jordan Botel. He would carry 17 times for 168 yards (an average of 9.9 yards per carry) and scored three touchdowns. It’s the first season for Botel as the #1 featured back in Nanaimo after the departure of Andrew Harris.

For the second consecutive week the Kamloops Broncos have the Defensive Player of the Week. Shayne Arthurs was a one man show in Victoria compiling four solo tackles, one assist and two special teams tackles. He would cap off his day scoring the only points for the Broncos after a 65 yard interception return for a touchdown. Arthurs follows team mate Alex Adams who won the honour last week.

Not to be outdone by his team mate, the Special Teams Player of the Week is Mark Mueller of the Vancouver Island Raiders. After the defending champs put up 54 points, Mueller tallied nine kick offs for 537 yards and was 7-7 in converts. Throughout the afternoon he would also record three punts for 128 yards, averaging 42.6 yards a kick. He would end his day with a 17 yard chip shot field goal, for a total of 24 points scored.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
