Bisons win first of the season


The North Halton Crimson Tide visited the Brantford Bisons on saturday afternoon at the Wayne Gretzky center. This was a highly anticipated bantam match up in the Ontario Minor Football League.

The teams entered the contest with low numbers in the win column but both showed that they are a determined and resilient bunch. The Crimson Tide played the game with an undersized line and the bisons scored almost as many points in this game as they had in the previous five. The bisons held off the visitors 14 to 6 for the victory.

GAME HILITES:

FIRST HALF
– first drive the Crimson Tide marched down the field only to be stopped on a 4 and goal from the 2 yard line
– bisons first drive had some big plays by #23, Colton Dennis and #89, Christopher Stewart but like the Tides first drive ended on turnovers on downs
– bisons #27, Dustin Irvin big INT in the first quarter
– on the bisons first touchdown drive they converted two fourth down plays and began to use their size on the oline
SECOND HALF
– bisons blocked a crimson tide punt
– bisons #35, Trevor Fleming made a spectacular INT
– after a bison punt was called back for too many men, the tides #24 ran the punt back 65 yards on a spectacular return. Convert attempt was blocked
– bisons continued to pound the ball and were reward win #34, Liam Hazell scored his second touchdown of the game. #33, Tyler Marques caught the 2 point convert making the score 14 to 6
– bisons #28, David Adeniran intercepted a tide pass at the bison goal line with 3:20 remaining in the game
– bisons ran out the clock over the next 3 minutes on a 12 play drive
