BC’s Stevi Schnoor soars towards All-Fantasy status

Quite possibly the greatest Canadian player to grace the gridiron of the Legends Football League, Stevi Schnoor continues to add to a formidable legacy. Having compiled a third straight season of at least 200 yards rushing with the Seattle Mist, Schnoor’s was rewarded for her efforts with a spot on the Western Conference All-Fantasy Team.

Joining her on the All-Fantasy Team were Mist teammates Danika Brace and Bryn Renda, along with league MVP Jade Randle of the expansion Dallas franchise, who the Mist defeated in the Western Conference championship game, the second straight in franchise history.

The product of Coquitlam, British Columbia, Schnoor stands tall as one of the league’s most accomplished running backs. Also giving her time as a rugby coach for young girls, a sport that has seen her play at the national team level, it is testament to Schnoor’s strong sense of teamwork.

Such teamwork was evident in the Mist’s potent rushing attack. Sharing duties with Dominique Malloy, a free agent acquisition formerly with Las Vegas, the two combined for a prolific 1-2 punch, combining for nine rushing touchdowns and over 500 yards. Of note, the Mist outrushed opponents in rushing yardage by a cumulative amount of 605-387, which averaged 91.2 yards per game, compared to just 38.3 for their opponents.

Malloy assembled a solid season of 293 yards, while Schnoor scorched opposing defenses with 255 yards and seven rushing touchdowns, which finished second in league play only to Jayne Caldwell of Los Angeles.

Schnoor’s rushing total accounted for 42 percent of the Mist’s running game. Such numbers take on an exceptional glitter when considering that Schnoor (and Malloy) outrushed two other teams. Of note, the Omaha Heart as a team only managed 114 rushing yards. Although the Heart managed 232 yards gained, they also lost 118. Even factoring yards gained, Schnoor individually outran the squad, while doubling the total number of yards by the Heart’s rushing leader Nick Bernhardt. In addition, Schnoor outran the expansion the New England Revolution, who accumulated only 79 yards.

In addition, she ranked only second to Renda among the Mist’s leading receivers. Also ranking third on the Mist in receiving yardage, it displayed a remarkable reliability that made Schnoor one of the league’s most dependable weapons on offense. Also pulling double duty on defense, Schnoor ranked fifth in total tackles, one of only five competitors on the Mist to reach double digits in tackles, displaying strong versatility.

Adding to such a momentous season was the milestone of throwing a touchdown pass in the Mist’s season opener. It was only fitting that Schnoor connected in the end zone with Jessica Hopkins. Having both played for the BC Angels in 2012, they are the only women to have captured LFL titles in both Canada and the United States.

Having amassed over 500 career rushing yards with the Mist, Schnoor is not only one of the franchise’s all-time rushing leaders, she has set the gold standard among all Canadians that have competed in LFL play. As Schnoor continues to make her mark in Seattle Mist lore, her impact only grows in magnitude, making her a value of teammate while representing a strong standard of excellence. Simultaneously, she also represents the potential for Canadian players to keep making their mark in league play, which also saw Saskatchewan’s Amanda Ruller don the Atlanta Steam colors in 2016.
