BCFC: BC Lions Players of the Week – Week 3

The British Columbia Football Conference is pleased to announce the ā€œBC Lions Players of the Weekā€ for Week 3 of the 2013 season.

Last weekā€™s Game of the Week featured a rematch of the 2012 Cullen Cup Championship.Ā  The Langley Rams would record their second straight win in Nanaimo over the VI Raiders.Ā Ā Ā  The ā€œBC Lions Offensive Player of the Weekā€ was Raiders receiverĀ Whitman TomusiakĀ who was a major factor in keeping the Raiders close.Ā  He would set new team records with 11 catches for 225 yards.Ā  He would also haul in two touchdown passes.

The Valley Huskers would record their first road win in 18 tries with a 33-30 victory in Kamloops.Ā  LinebackerĀ Brody SlagmanĀ was instrumental on the Huskers defensive side of the ball.Ā  He would record six tackles, three special teams tackles and would force a fumble.Ā  For his efforts, he was named the ā€œBC Lions Defensive Player of the Week.ā€

For the second consecutive week, the ā€œBC Lions Special Teams Player of the Weekā€ is Valley Huskers kickerĀ Dan Erickson.Ā  He would finish three of four in field goals, hitting from 24, 37 and 45 yards out, while hitting a perfect three for three in converts.Ā  He would also punt nine times for 457 yards and record a single, his average kick travelled 50.8 yards.Ā  Erickson tallied four kick offs for 178 yards.

Week 4 in the BCFC will have a full slate of games as the Langley Rams (3-0) travel to face the Westshore Rebels (0-3), while the Okanagan Sun (2-1) are on the road in Kamloops to take on the Broncos (0-2-1).Ā  The VI Raiders (1-2) will host the Valley Huskers (2-0-1).
