BC Lions players of the week (BCFC): Cottoy, Blackwell, and Braun named

BC LIONS

British Columbia Football Conference Players of the Week

Semi-Finals

The playoffs kicked off last weekend with game in Kelowna and Langley. The Langley Rams advanced with a 37-26 win over the VI Raiders while the sun moved on following a 47-21 victory over the Valley Huskers.

The Sun and the Rams now meet in the Cullen Cup BCFC Championship game this Sunday, 1PM at the Apple Bowl in Kelowna. The game can be watched live in PPV at

BCFCTV.COM.

The BC Lions Players of the Week for the semi-finals;

OFFENCE

Jevon Cottoy / REC / Langley Rams

7 catches, 246 yards, TDS

Cottoy was named a BCFC all star last week and Saturday had the biggest game of any receiver this season.

35.1 yard average and all 4 of his team’s touchdowns. That’s a POW every time.

DEFENSE

AJ Blackwell / LB / Langley Rams

12 tackles, 2 batted balls

The Rams defence knew they would have their hands full against a Raiders offense that had weapons on the ground and in the air.

Linebacker AJ Blackwell had a whale of a game as he pursued the tackle as if he was the only Ram on the field. If Blackwell puts forth a performance like this again Sunday in the Cullen Cup the Rams will be a good bet to advance to the national semi-final.

SPECIAL TEAMS

Jared Braun / Returner / VI Raiders

6 punt returns 45 yards

4 kick returns for 154 yards (longest 90)

Jared Braun seems to save his best performances for the Rams and did his level best to give his club field position again Saturday as the Raiders fell to Langley.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
