Barrie recruit keen on Laurier’s family atmosphere (VIDEO)

Barrie defensive back joins OUA team’s 2016 class

Christian Hutter-Coppin wanted a close-tight knit atmosphere for his future CIS home.

The 5ā€™10, 175 pound defensive back from Barrie, Ontario has found it with Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks. Hutter Coppin has committed to the OUA team and will join them for the 2016 campaign.

ā€œI chose Laurier because the coaches and players act like a family; there are not different groups in the locker room everybody talks to everybody and everybody gets along with each other,ā€ explained Hutter-Coppin of his decision.Ā  ā€œI also chose Laurier because of the KIN program really stuck out and for the obvious reason it’s DBU [Defensive Back University].ā€

Among the teams Hutter-Coppin has played for include Eastview Wildcats of the Georgian Bay Secondary School Association (GBSSA) and Huronia Stallions of the Ontario Football Conference (OFC).

During his time with the Stallions, he has been selected as an OFC All-Star as a defensive back as well as on special teams as a punt/kick return specialist.
