Axemen sign pair of local recruits (VIDEO)

The Acadia Axemen have announced the additions of Micah Goode and Angelo Gentile to their football program.

Goode, the 6’3, 260 pound offensive tackle from Bedford,Nova Scotia suited up for the Charles P Allen Cheetahs of the Nova Scotia Student Athletic Federation Football League (NSSAFFL).  Among the honours he received during his career include an NSSAFFL Division 1 All-Star selection as well as both Cheetahs Lineman of the Year and Coaches Awards.

“Micah, in our evaluation is one of the top five linemen coming out of the Maritimes,” commented Axemen Recruiting and Special Teams Coordinator Peter Fraser.  “We are extremely happy that he will be bring his toughness and physicality to Acaida, next year.”

“We can see Micah developing into a very good tackle at the CIS level.  He is also adds another player from Charles P Allen High School, which has developed into a very good recruiting pipeline for us here at Acadia.”

Angelo Gentile commitment

Gentile, the 6’0, 260 pound two-way lineman from Halifax, Nova Scotia will begin his career with the Axemen on defence. Recently, the standout completed his career with the Halfiax West Warriors of the Nova Scotia Student Athletic Federation Football League (NSSAFFL). Gentile has been selected as aNSSAFFL Division 1 All-Star as well as earned several honours including Warriors Rookie of the Year and Warrior Award.

Moreover, Gentile has suited up for the Timberlea Renegades organization and represented his province as a member of Team Nova Scotia at the 2015 Football Canada Cup in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec.

“Angelo will play on the defensive line for the Axemen in 2016,” added Fraser.  “His combination of physicality, quickness, and athleticism are a perfect fit for what we are looking for in defensive linemen here at Acadia.”

“His high school coach Dave Kelly, told us “he is a great player but a better young man” having spent time with him myself at last year’s Football Canada Cup, I could not agree more.  We are looking forward to seeing him develop into the center piece of our defensive line for years to come.”
