Arrington Hicks Signs with Winnipeg Blue Bombers (video)


YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Former Eastern Michigan University football player Arrington Hicks (Orlando, Fla.-Edgewater) has signed a contracts to extend his playing days at the professional level. The Orlando, Fla. native inked with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League.

Hicks was a four-year letterman at defensive cornerback for the Eagles. He played in 44 games during his career with 32 starts in four consecutive years. Hicks recorded 104 career tackles with two interceptions, four fumble recoveries and 15 passes deflected.

Last season for the Green and White, he started all 12 games at left cornerback, recording 46 tackles to rank sixth on the team in that category. Hicks finished tied for the team lead in fumble recoveries with two for 16 yards to go along with five pass deflections..

In 2009, he earned his third letter after playing in 11 games with 10 starts, after finishing eighth on the team in tackles with 32.. Hicks had one interception at Northwestern (Sept. 12) and turned in a career-best seven tackles at Arkansas (Oct. 31)..

A graduate of Edgewater High School in Orlando, Fla., Hicks was a two-year starter at defensive cornerback in football and three-time All-State track performer.

Hicks joins former EMU teammate Johnny Sears on the Blue Bombers’ roster.
