AUS team gets commitment from second Ontario lineman in recent days.

On the heels of signing offensive lineman Jacob Creedon, the Acadia Axemen has signed their second recruit for the team’s 2014 class.

Drew Seldon is the latest recruit to sign with the team.  Axemen Head Coach Jeff Cummins is thrilled to have two Ontario offensive lineman join the fold and look forward to their future contributions to the success of the Wolfville, Nova Scotia team.

“We are very happy to have great young linemen like Jacob and Drew make the decision to attend Acadia and play football for us,” commented Cummins.  “The decision for them to come out East is always made easier because Acadia is consistently ranked the first or second undergraduate institution in the country.”

“Combine that with an opportunity to compete on the national stage every year as the AUS semi-finalist and compete on a field turf surface second to none. Both Jake and Drew will come in and solidify a young offensive line group that took its lumps this past fall. We are very pleased that both Jake and Drew have decided to join the Axemen Family!”

DREW SELDON:

The 6’3, 275 pound offensive lineman from Thornhill, Ontario was never in doubt about his choice about where he would embark on his CIS career.

“Acadia was my top choice of universities because it has a long history of being a great academic institution, in addition to a long standing tradition of championship football,” explained Seldon of his decision. “I was born and raised in Thornhill Ontario; however my family has deep roots in the province of Nova Scotia. My grandparents were both Nova Scotian. a number of my relatives have attended, and are still attending Acadia University.”

“As a result, I think that Acadia, and their football program is a perfect fit for me. I have been fortunate to have had outstanding coaches, that have had long CIS and CFL careers, and they too, have advised me about the long outstanding football program at Acadia.”

Seldon joins the Axemen after completing his high school career with Bill Crothers Colts of the York Region Athletic Association (YRAA). Additionally, he has suited up for the Newmarket Bucs of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).  For the past two seasons, Seldon has played at the offensive guard and defensive tackle positions.
