Acadia Axemen best AUS team, says commit

Acadia adds provincial commit to their Class of 2018.

Pieter Blok, a running back from Lockview High School, has some unique reasons as to why he chose to become an Acadian Axemen.

ā€œI chose to go to Acadia because I love the valley and being a pilot, they just put in a runway ten minutes away, which is great,ā€ Blok said.

Now, back on the football front, Blok has had the chance to get acquainted with the school and the coaching staff during his time with the 2017 edition of Team Nova Scotia U18. ā€œI spent time there at the Canada Cup and loved the campus,ā€ Blok said. ā€œI know Coach Cummins from the Canada Cup (too) and my unofficial visit there and really liked how he spoke about his team and how he ran it.ā€

Blok also met Coach Squires, who was his coordinator on Team Nova Scotia. ā€œI learned a lot from him and liked how he brought some hype and intensity to practice,” he said.

Standing at 5ā€™11, 200lbs, Blok has been playing for seven seasons. In high school, he was a member of the Lockview Dragons (Nova Scoria Football League). This season, he was named as the division one offensive player of the year. He was also a D1 all-star. Last year, he was a linebacker all-star. He also played on Team Nova Scotia U16.

The product of Enfield, Nova Scotia, will be taking administration in university.

ā€œIā€™m really excited to work with the coaches and players and play for the best team in the AUS,ā€ Blok said. ā€œI hope I can be a positive contribution to the running game and special teams over the next four years.ā€
