CFC100 Class of 2017 TE Tanner McLachlan out of Lethbridge Collegiate Institute in Lethbridge, AB was the final Canadian to hear his name called during the 2024 NFL draft, going 194th overall in the sixth round to the Cincinnati Bengals.

McLachlan was a two-way menace at LCI, and the 6’5″, 250lb pass catcher was ranked 94th overall in the CFC100 Class of 2017 first committed to play wide receiver at Southern Utah University, where he stayed from 2018 to 2021, before transferring as a walk on to Arizona. Eventually earning a scholarship with the Wildcats, McLachlan fully transitioned to tight end.

During the pre-draft process, McLachlan made a statement at the 2024 NFL Scouting combine, where he ran a blazing 4.61 40 yard dash and put up 20 reps on the 225lb bench press. McLachlan was ranked fifth overall in the CFC40 Class of 2024. The Bengals have not had stability at the tight end position for a few seasons, so the door is open for McLachlan to potentially get playing time in his rookie season.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
