2017 FOX 40 PROSPECT CHALLENGE (#CFCFPC) kicks off Saturday, May 6th in Ottawa

* BATTLE OF THE BEST features the top grade 11s from Central (Ontario) region versus the top grade 11s from the West Coast (British Columbia) region Saturday 7:30pm

(Cambridge, ON) May 2, 2017 – Quarterbacks James Keenan, Jack Zergiotis, Liam Kennedy, Huzaifah (ZEE) Rana, Ryan Licandro, Connor Irwin-Lewis, Nate Hunt, and Benjamin Robinson headline some of Canada’s brightest emerging football stars in the 2017 Fox 40 Prospect Challenge, as Fox 40, Russell Athletic, Big Kahuna, Canadafootballchat.com (CFC), and the Canadian Football League (CFL), announced the game schedule for the fourth annual edition of the nation’s largest all-star football showcase event.

The second weekend of the tournament kicks off Saturday May 6th (MNP Park – Carleton) at 1:00pm when the Quebec Bantam League all-stars play the East Sophomore FPC all-stars. The game is followed at 4:00pm with the Quebec Midget League all-stars playing the East Varsity FPC all-stars. The day culminates with the showcase ‘BATTLE OF THE BEST’ game featuring the top FPC British Columbia all-stars (grade 11 – Team BCHS) versus the top FPC Ontario all-stars at 7:30pm. The following day features five Youth age games at Millennium Park starting at 8:45am.

The CFL will be using four FPC Varsity games to evaluate amateur officials. “The identification of talent isn’t just restricted to players”, said Glen Johnson, SVP Football for the CFL. “We are excited to use all-star games like the FPC Series to develop and scout prospects as potential CIS and CFL officials.”

CFCs platforms deliver highlights, interviews, and behind-the-scenes content from the 2017 Fox 40 Prospect Challenge. Game rosters will be available at the stadium as well as online the week prior to the event on Canadafootballchat.com.

General Admission tickets for MNP Park will be available on-site only. General Admission day passes include Adults ($10), and Students ($5).

The FPC gives back to local football teams and players every year. Last year’s event rose over $5000 for local clubs and many underprivileged players have received full scholarships each year. In its three years, the FPC has raised over $10,000 in fundraising and scholarships.

About the 4th Annual Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (#CFCFPC)

The tournament, formerly known as the Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC) in Central Canada, is a series of elite showcase games that feature the best tackle football players across most of Canada, aged 10-19 years. The three-phased event, which includes a multitude of competitive evaluations, includes three tournament game locations (Hamilton – April 28-29; Ottawa – May 6-7; Coquitlam, BC – May 13). All Hamilton games and Ottawa May 6th games will be live streamed and tape delayed. Ottawa May 7th and Coquitlam May 13th will be tape delayed.
