2010 Bison Football Training Camp begins with 88 players

There are 88 players (47 returning players and 41 new players) invited to the 2010 Manitoba Bisons football team training camp. The Bisons camp will begin their first on-field practice on Friday, August 20 at the University Stadium (at U of Manitoba campus) starting at 4:30 p.m.

Team player testing will commence on Thursday, August 19 from 8:30-3 p.m. at Room 125 Frank Kennedy Centre plus University Stadium.

First on-field practice starts on Friday, August 20

The first two-a-day session occurs on Saturday, August 20 and the team training camp will run until a scrimmage scheduled for Friday, August 27. The Herd will then prepare for the first regular season contest during the week of August 30 to September 1.

For the 2010 season, there are eight of 12 starters on the defense and five of the 12 starters on offence returning to the Bison squad. Three years removed from winning their third Vanier Cup Championship in team history, the Manitoba Bisons football team only has three players left on this year’s edition that dressed in the 2007 Vanier. The Herd looks to bounce back from missing the playoffs for only the fourth time in the last 11 years.

The Bison football team will not play a pre-season game this season. The squad will begin the 2010 season on the road against the Regina Rams on Friday, September 3 at 8 p.m. Central Time. Manitoba hosts their first home game against the University of Alberta Golden Bears on Saturday, September 11 at University Stadium starting at 2 p.m. CT.
