OVFL varsity champion and 2009 GTA all-star Chris Johnson has made known his commitment and signed a letter of intent to play football for the Varsity Blues and pursue an education at the University of Toronto in the fall of 2010.
A former member of the Scarborough Thunder, the 5-foot-11 linebacker helped lead that team to their first Ontario Varsity Football League title since 2003 in an exciting 28-21 win over the London Falcons.
A powerhouse with the Pickering High School Trojans, Johnson is a well-rounded student that comes from an athletically gifted family.
The Ontario scholar and volunteer with Habitat for Humanity is the cousin of national- and CIS-record holder and Olympic silver medalist track and field, Molly Killingbeck, the current head coach of the national development centre at U of T.
His uncle is former York basketball standout, 2009 Lions sports hall of fame inductee and current voice of the Toronto Raptors on the FAN 590, Paul Jones.
