’14 #CFC100 DL Robinson departs from Mount Allison

2014 #CFC100 ranked defensive lineman Shaun Robinson is apparently looking to spread his gridiron wings.

In an article by the Chronicle Herald, Mount Allison Mounties Head Coach Scott Brady confirmed that the Halifax, Nova Scotia defensive lineman has opted to leave the team as he wants to pursue his gridiron options.

Robinson expressed to Brady of his ambition to play in a bigger program, namely south of the border with an NCAA team.

Despite Robinson’s departure, he left on a positive, amicable note with the Mounties.

β€œHe said good things about being here, but he didn’t want to have any regrets about not taking an NCAA opportunity if he could get that,” said Brady in the interview with the Herald yesterday.

This past fall, the defensive standout was selected as an AUS All-Star.

Back in January 2014, Robinson committed to the Mounties. Β His football ascension began at the age of nine, when he played for the Dartmouth Destroyers football organization.Β  He played four levels of football (atom, peewee, bantam and junior varsity) with the Destroyers.

Additionally, the Nova Scotia defensive star played for the Halifax Seahawks of the Nova Scotia Varsity Football League (NSVFL).Β  A veteran of the provincial football program as he’s played on Team Nova Scotia squads for four seasons – including representing the province at the 2013 Football Canada Cup in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Robinson enjoyed great success with the Citadel Phoenix of the Nova Scotia Student Athletic Federation Football League (NSSAFFL) guiding the team to theirΒ historical fifth consecutive Nova Division Tier 1 Championship title against the Sir John A MacDonald Flames in November 2012. Β The NSSAFFL acknowledged Robinson that season with several accolades including Nova Division Co-League MVP, Nova Division Lineman of the Year and Nova Division Nova Division First Team All-Star on the defensive line.

Additionally, the defensive lineman was a #CFC100 CLASS 2014 ranked prospect.

Robinson has received several honours during his career including Atom Defensive MVP, Peewee Defensive MVP Peewee Lineman of the Year, Bantam Defensive MVP, Bantam Lineman of the Year, Peewee Championship game Defensive MVP,Β  Bantam Championship game Defensive MVP, Junior Varsity Championship game Defensive MVP, Defensive Rookie of the Year (2012), Maritime Bantam Championship Offensive MVP, Ottawa Youth Football Challenge Defensive MVP, Youth All-American Bowl Championship (Texas), FBU Top Gun Invite , 2012 Football Canada Cup 2012 Defensive Game MVP, 2012 Football Canada Cup Tournament All-Star, 2012 NSSAFFL Nova Division Defensive MVP, 2012 NSAAFL Nova Division Lineman of the Year, 2012 NSAAFFL Nova Division First Team All-Star, 2013 Football Canada Cup Defensive Player of the Game against Saskatchewan, and 2013 Football Canada Cup MVP Defensive Player of the Game against Manitoba.
