#CFC10 ONTARIO SUMMER RANKINGS – JV (9): Burlington falls, who will be the new #1?

The JV #CFC10 Summer Rankings have seen changes all season and even thought there is only one week left in the season the Week 9 edition is no different. For the third time this season there is a change at the top of the rankings as the defending OVFL champs, the London Jr. Mustangs takeover #1 and become the fourth team to be ranked in the top spot this season.

The Burlington Stampeders, who looked almost unstoppable in their dismantling of Hamilton two weeks ago, were handed a beatdown of their own via a 63-21 to the Guelph Gryphons. The Gryphons went unnoticed in the first part of the season as the perennial powerhouses established hierarchy but a funny thing happened…. Guelph kept winning. The Jr. Gryphons have handled everyone in their path and will surprise no one in the upcoming playoffs.

With the Burlington loss the Mustangs climb to top spot, although many have said for weeks now that they are the province’s best team. If you read the Varsity #CFC10 Summer Rankings, you would have seen the Ric Flair quote when describing the top ranked varsity team Myers. If you didn’t I will repeat it because it is very much applicable to these London Mustangs “If you want to be the best you’ve got to beat the best!” and folks ain’t nobody done beaten ’em yet!!

6) TORONTO THUNDER (7) 7-1 OVFL (won 30-22 @ Kingston) Only a week one overtime loss to unbeaten Myers seperate the Thunder from an unbeaten season. Could #6 be a little low? Time will tell as they get a couple of weeks off to prep for a second round home playoff game.  Next up: bye

7) BURLINGTON STAMPEDERS (1) 6-1 OFC  (lost 63-21 @ Guelph) The Stampeders need to flush the memories of the Guelph game in a hurry and focus on Forest City as the winner will host a first round playoff game. How great is the competition in the OFC this season when Burlington can go from #1 to potentially going on the road for the first round in the span of only a week?  Next up: vs. Forest City
