Training camp is a time most high school football teams use to build chemistry. Not the W.J. Mouat Hawks Triple-A team, or at least not four of its players, anyway.
Starting quarterback Cam Bedore, standout receiver John Watson, linebacker Luke Friesen and back-up pivot Daniel Markin were all employed by Culinary Touch Catering and the Q Steakhouse in Abbotsford this summer, which has helped strengthen their bond.
“You get to know these guys on a more personal level so it’s easy to get to know how they play on the football field,” said Bedore in between workouts on Tuesday, the second day of Hawks training camp.
“We know how to work to each other’s strengths and we just get the job done,” said Bedore.
The Hawks will have to battle conference rivals Centennial and Terry Fox to make it back to the Subway Bowl.
